When it comes to Chamonix nightlife you are spoilt for choice for bars and clubs, from lively late night haunts to more chilled out places. Below is by no means an exclusive list just a few favourites, and also some that just have to get a mention and therefore probably require a visit to do your Chamonix trip justice! Bars & Clubs in Chamonix

Chambre Neuf is the old favourite any time of year - opposite the train station in Chamonix, with happy hour and live bands classic covers that get the crowd dancing on tables until late in the evening. It's also a favourite hang out in the daytime when the bar is transformed into a restaurant with checked table clothes for their lunch time menu - enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. There is also a large outdoor terrace to soak up the sun.

L' Elevation 1904 - if you are looking for something a bit more chilled - just across the road from Chambre Neuf is L' Elevation 1904. They have plenty of tables and seating outside so you can enjoy a chilled beer in the sun - a great sun trap in the afternoons. This cafe & bar is open all day serving a hearty breakfast and at lunch anything from pasta, salads to a mean chicken, bacon, avocado burger!

The Clubhouse - For a more sophisticated, uber cool evening head to The Clubhouse, sister club to Milk & Honey in New York and London, a members bar but at times also open to other guests for cocktails and dining. This boutique, Art Deco mansion arguably serves the best cocktails in Chamonix as well as champagne, wines and a superb collection of rare and vintage Armagnacs. Drinks served by a roaring fire place in the winter or outside on the sun terrace in the summer. Head Chef Mark Webb (Chez Bruce and La Trompette) never disappoints with his delicious menus. Their Sunday lunches are also legendary as are their BBQ's! La Cantina - Upstairs La Cantina Mexican restaurant serves all your favourite dishes from nachos to sizzling, hot fajitas - downstairs it's La Cantina nightclub that's hotting up! Renowned in Chamonix for the best dance music nights, La Cantina showcases local bands and DJ’s as well as bringing in DJ’s from across the globe. The Garage Club - How could we not mention the Garage! Its the place you'll end up when everywhere else has closed. Your friends will tell you not to go and that you'll regret it in the morning - but you refuse to go to bed! You won't remember going there and you won't be able to find it sober! DJs covering just about every taste in music, always good entertainment!

The Jekyll has to be the best all round bar with live bands, comedy nights, quiz nights, ribs nights, happy hour promotion, not to mention BBQ's, homemade Guiness, Steak and Ale pies. They also show all major sports events on large screen TVs and you are always guaranteed a wam welcome from Jo, Chris and Siobhan. Located by the Bowling Alley near Cham Sud - also check out Monkey Bar, South Bar and Munster Bar in this area.

MBC - Micro Brasserie de Chamonix - Four Canadians with a passion for beer set up the first Micro Brewery in the Mont Blanc region in 2002. They serve 5 beers on tap, a full bar and not to miss the MBC beer of the month. A friendly pub atmosphere with live music to entertain you, burgers and ribs to die for - you'll think you've gone to heaven! The Mix bar - you'll find several bars down the cobbled street of Rue des Moulins including Soul Food, Le Privilege and Bar'd Up - the Mix Bar being the newcomer. The Mix bar with it's modern, funky decor, is undoubtedly one of the coolest bars in Chamonix, not surprising when you hear it's run by one of the Hoax brothers who also regularly DJ's to set the night off to a great start. No Escape - worth a look is the relatively new No Escape which although it has a restaurant is very much touting itself as a trendy lounge club to rival any club in Chelsea. The club is open until 4am with a resident DJ on the decks most nights during peak season. Next door you will find 7th Heaven Gentlemans Club - a first in Chamonix. Strick rules apply for entrance.

The Pub - friendly, fun bar, good to hang out at all year round. Apart from serving your favourite beers you can guarantee they'll show all the main sporting events on big screens. The heated outdoor terrace is great for a spot of people watching in the evening.

La Terrasse Bar - one of the most popular bars, you can't miss the dusky pink art nouveau building in the main square. The downstairs bar has entertainment every night in high season from cover band legends "The Juggernauts of Rock" to Chamonix's very own Superstar DJ's. Beer and shot promo's to get the party started - they're even known to set prices of beer jugs as the clock ticks, prices 5 euros til 5pm, 6 euros til 6pm! The upstairs terrace bar is more chilled but doesn't lose the atmosphere - great cocktails too!

Le Vert has some of the best parties in Chamonix always pulling the crowd in, especially at the weekends. Voted bar of the season in their year of opening in 2006, Le Vert has featured Gilles Peterson and DJ’s from Finger Lickin’ Records to name but a few! The lounge bar has a pool table, UK Sky TV and great Sunday roasts. Catch the bus or train from Chamonix centre to Les Gaillands train station just a few stops away, or Le Vert is an easy 15 min walk and well worth the trek.

Argentiere Bars

From the lifts at Grands Montets head up to the bars along Rue Charlet Straton (close to the tourist office in Argentiere). Also see Argentiere (Grands Montets Apres Ski).

The Office Bar is a great favourite with the locals with live music, full bar and beers on tap, sunny outdoor terrace, resident chef serving up delicious homemade burgers, steaks, BBQ ribs and more.

Les Praz / Flegere bars

If you are skiing or hiking at Flegere for the day or heading back to Chamonix from Grand Montets stop at Les Praz and head to the Rhododendrons Bar just opposite the bus stop. Jump around in the bar with the regular live bands and jugs of beers on the sun terrace, before you catch the last bus home to Chamonix.

Les Houches

A hot favourite with locals, seasonaires and holiday makers alike is Le Delice restaurant & bar - 130 Rue de l’Eglise, Les Houches - regular entertainment, fabulous food and kid friendly too.
